It is a little known fact that Kobe Bryant has an opt out clause in his contract for after this season which could find him joining the likes of Super Duper Star LeBron James and well as Superstars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in the biggest free agent sweepstakes in history. Only problem with that line of thought is Kobe says it won’t happen.

So Kobe does not want to test the waters and see who wants him? No.

Kobe Bryant will remain a Laker

Kobe Bryant has taken notice that the Lakers are set up to compete for titles in the near future for probably the rest of his career and he likes that.

    .

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol could play together through 2013-14 after Kobe signs his extension.

Kobe Bryant knows this. He also knows he now plays alongside a power forward who ranks among the league’s best, a 22-year-old center with the potential to become one of the game’s top big men, a bruising stopper who relieves some of the nightly defensive duties from his own shoulders and another long, versatile forward who can be a matchup terror for opponents. His coach has won more NBA titles than any coach ever.

So ask Kobe to compare his situation to that of LeBron James or Dwyane Wade or any other NBA star, and he’ll simply grin as if you’ve discovered his personal little secret. Yes, these days, even in spite of his numerous injuries, in spite of the Lakers’ inconsistency, Kobe has it good.

“I’m set up to have a good run here,” Bryant said. “I’ve been very fortunate. I went through seven years of hell. Management decided that it was time to spend the money to bring in the players here.”

There you have it, great teammates, great arena, great team history, movie stars, sunshine, and just about everything else a ballplayer could want and more. Why leave when Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest, Derek Fisher, and Lamar Odom will be helping Kobe compete for the NBA Title for year after year?

So get used to it, you will be saying Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in the same sentence for a long time.
