NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.

The Boston Celtics have one of the best if not the best teams in the NBA and appear to be headed to close to a 60 win season and a long run in the playoffs perhaps culminating in the NBA title. They are doing this with Kevin Garnett missing several weeks of games and Paul Pierce missing several weeks of games. How often can a team have their stars miss so many games and still sport such a stellar record?

Well, yeah. Kevin Garnett for only 29 games? Paul Pierce for only 34 (and, let’s be honest, he should have taken a few more off)? A near-60 win season doesn’t guarantee the C’s a return to Finals glory, but the team has done quite well in the face of some significant injuries, to say nothing of a thin bench that has gone a bit ka-plooie at times.

One has to wonder if the Celtics are even concerned about the Atlantic Division of the NBA. Even with all the injuries and a 4 – 6 record for the last ten games they maintain a healthy 7 and a half game lead on the Chris Bosh led Toronto Raptors. It is the Raptors that pose the only threat in the Division with the Knicks, 76ers, and Nets having down years or maybe down decades, who knows. The Nets are contenders for the first draft pick and will have cap space, so maybe there is a future there. The 76ers are living with Allen Iverson again, so there is no defense to speak of and we hardly need to delve into the problems the Knicks have had for a long time.

Paul Pierce is back leading the Celtics

Boston will win the Atlantic and hopefully have a healthy Garnett and a healthy Pierce to lead them in the playoffs.
