NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
There is one commonality in sports of all kinds and it involves climbing to the top of the mountain, winning at a pace never accomplished before. The climb is arduous often involving a mix of skill, luck, and timing, but the memories of those involved are short, restrained by the feelings of ego that tell them they are great.
Recently the Orlando Magic have been humbled by a number of losses going 3 and 7 in their last 10 games and do not seem invincible anymore. The Atlanta Hawks have moved ahead of them in the standings by half a game. The Magic are still a respectable 26 -15. It is not the time for panic, but maybe a good time to refocus.
Dwight Howard and the Magic need to get back to business
Once you have been to the top it is oh so hard to return with the path blocked by feelings of greatness that make you forget how hard it was or how lucky you were or any number of countless good breaks that your way came. There is a tendency for the returning team to take their foot off the gas pedal and just expect to coast to victory. Orlando is suffering that malaise right now. We see Orlando sitting 10th in the Power Rankings by the Orlando Sentinel.
The slump continues. The Magic have lost seven of their last 11 games, and their last two defeats — at Denver and at Portland — weren’t even close.

The cure of course is to pick up the intensity and get back to work and respect not only your opponent, but your circumstances as well.
The magic recipe for the Dwight Howard led Magic may be in the form of tonight’s opponent, the Indiana Pacers. The game is in Orlando and we all know a little home cooking goes a long ways. Besides the Pacers are a pretty shabby 14 – 25. Time for the Magic to pour it on and release all of their recent frustration and create some momentum going forward. Look out Pacers!
