Since when is it OK to pull a gun on a teammate? Check that. Since when is it OK to pull a gun on anyone? I guess when you play for the Washington Wizards, this sort of thing is to be expected?
Seriously though … what happened to Gilbert Arenas? He was a rising star in the NBA not too long ago but its seems as though he’s quickly fallen from grace.
Gilbert Arenas may receive a suspension by David Stern.
The NBA is considering suspending Arenas while the legalities surrounding the gun-possession charge get worked out. I think that David Stern shouldn’t waste any more time considering the suspension, he should just do it. Other players have received suspensions over much less.
The worst part is that Arenas doesn’t appear to be taking the charges too seriously. He was caught laughing about the incident on Tuesday night and was quoted saying that he was more “scared of Stern than the authorities” on ESPN.com.
Stern needs to send a serious message to Arenas so that he will step up and take responsibility for his actions. Canned statements to the media only go so far.
The one thing that has hindered his star power is Arenas’ ego. And until he checks his ego at the door, he’ll keep making choices that overshadow his basketball talent.
